- Personal website
Sample case-study copy for this portfolio. The site is real; the story is a starting point to refine.
The idea
A personal website should have room for more than a list of links. The aim was to create a home for projects, a journal about the process and a little context about the person behind the work.
The starting point was a simple visual direction: a dark canvas, a familiar portrait and colour accents that feel calm without disappearing into the background.
My role
The site brings together the visual direction, page structure and content editing experience. A shared shell gives each page a familiar starting point, while projects and articles use layouts suited to their stories.
The challenge
The challenge was to keep the overview useful without making it crowded, and to leave enough room for longer stories on the detail pages. The same structure also needed to work comfortably on a phone.
From idea to a useful project
01 / Approach
The overview brings selected projects and writing together. Project cards give the work a visual presence; journal entries keep the focus on the title and the idea.
Each kind of story gets its own detail layout. Case studies have room for a cover, a few useful facts and the decisions behind the result. Articles use a narrower reading column, a clear byline and a contents list.
Let the content shape the page
Use a consistent shell, then give projects and writing the space each needs. A case study and a short reflection do not need the same layout.
Tools and technologies
The pages use Markdown with a small set of fields for titles, descriptions, project facts and images. Nuxt Content connects those stories to reusable page components.
Self-hosted fonts and a small collection of shared styles keep the visual language consistent as the site grows.
What changed
02 / Outcome
The portfolio now has a structure for selected work, writing, an introduction and contact information. It can begin with a handful of stories and grow without needing a redesign for every new entry.
The next step is personal: replace the sample stories with the details, images and observations that make the work recognisably mine.
What I learned
A useful design preview is more than a colour palette. The spacing, reading width and order of information are part of the idea too. Carrying those details through gives the finished page its character.
